UNHOLY FUCK! ack, ack, ack!! that's worse than the mouldering clown painting we found at a flea market one time...flaking paint on black velvet, with moth-eaten holes at one corner.
or maybe it was cigarette burns...
but wowsers those dogs are bastions of eeeeevil.
C'mon, they're adorable!
...if a little two-faced.
oh, that was bad! two faced indeed... *giggling*
What the...I can't...why.
Oh. Well that kinda makes a bit more sense then.
My sister vaguely remembers our great aunt having one of these. Who knows what happened to it over the years.
lolol I love them
they'd make a great Christmas display with fake snow and plastic greenery!
...I might have plastic greenery. Or something.
I have two fake ficus trees in my livingroom so I hear ya on the fake greens [so much easier if you're a plant killer, lbr]
there were bags of fake snow at the grocery store the other day, I contemplated getting one
I have a tendency to collect possible scenery to stage photoshoots with my action figures? I know I have some walls, but not sure if I have any trees.
haha that's cool [damn, and I was the diorama champion in 5th grade, I could've really added to your collection!]
Aww, too bad! My model horses also need greenery...though the nativity stable I found works well for them. Need fencing.
Oh, if you can find a plastic farm set at toys r us, they usually have fences included!
Yes, but my model horses are 9:1 Scale - so they're rather larger than plastic farm horses. By a good...uh...eight - twelve inches. Though I do have some 12:1 scale horses. They at least go with the 12:1 doll houses. :D
Doh! I didnt even think of scale at all.
Those dogs look like some sort of science project gone wrong.
Now we know why they have that shifty nervous expression. lol. (trying to see around to their other side, as if they're not really sure if there's something else living on the back of themselves...).
Oh, those chained animals! They're out of my grandmother's generation. I know that they are pretty old, but not sure of the age. And yes, I've seen others that are two faced like that.... Not sure why. My grandmother had an elephant with two baby elephants. It was NOT two faced.
I would say check eBay and see if it would be worth it to buy and resell.
I know they're from Occupied Japan. And they'll stay here. Scary weird animals can always find a home with me.
What strange little things! ...so old and broken. I probably would have bought them as well... if for nothing other than pity. *Someone* needs to make a Tim Burton-esque collection for all the bizarre and unloved chachkies of the world (a village that comes alive at night and has wonderful adventures!) I bet poo-poodle loves them :)
You know me, I had to have them in all their weirdness!
Me: *looks at the first pic* I don't see what's so bad about that.
Me: *looks at the second pic* I don't see what's so bad about that one, either.
Me: *looks at the third pic* . . . . . . . . .
Is that a vote against my odd little dogs?
Most definitely yes. And by yes, I really mean now I want to go find some two faced cats like that.
I had some family animal creatures when I was a kid, and still have one or two of the horses (out of two sets of horses), but I don't know what happened to all the rest. I never had any of the chained sets, though. And none like these dogs, with two faces.
I had this same progression but a little more sedately. Kinda like:
Editing to add: And then after a little while I kinda started to love them a little.Edited at 2014-12-21 03:20 am (UTC)
They're rather oddly loveable, aren't they?
Of course, I really like dogs.
lol I think they're quite terrifying.
But they were homeless! They needed a home!
*chuckle* I suppose so. ;)
Far better with my odd ball collection of animals than some trash can.
What the hell? Two faced dogs are creepy as all get out.
I posted something more here. :D
Oh, and your card arrived! It's lovely. Mine back to you will probably be late, for some reason. *cough*
Yay, I'm glad it arrived and you enjoyed it... Merry Christmas!
okay the two faces are new and that's hideous
Sis KS says she knows these things, and Great Aunt B had one in her house. I don't recall that, but, oh well.
