thrift store finds

Back from conquering the thrift store half-price sales. Here's the scary shit I found:

What I find scary about this is that it's somebody's family. And now no-one cares. Someone will buy the frame and throw out the photo.

What the fuck is this? I almost took it home.

TGI Friday's™..candleholders, I think. Fish visors.

It is flirting with you.

They all stared at Big-Eyed Elephant..

Behold, stoned rodents.

No toothbrushes in here. Sold out!

Staring.. endlessly staring..

What is this thing for? Besides terrifying me.

That first painting is actually kinda cool. Lots of energetic motion. *would have taken it home*

They're all staring at the PRICE TAG on Big-Eyed-Elephant. >,o

(Under terrifying paraplegic horse) - The original Beast Boy.

Kinda like the Birthday Girl goblet too, ngl. XD

That last painting needs one of those awesome monsters painted into it by whoever that one artist is.

After just watching John Carter of Mars, I think that painting is a view of the city, seen through fuzzy focus.

HEH i just bought a weird pic of someone's family member i suspect in an outrageous outfit playing the accordion. the person selling it was all "it is easy to take the picture out of the frame and use it for something else" while i was looking at it. and i was all "no this is now my uncle!"

I found a painting like that first one on the side of the road once, and it came home with me. I think I finally left it behind when I got married, because it disturbed my husband.

Aw, given away/lost family photographs always make me a bit sad.

Same here. I buy them sometimes (especially tin types) and research the people when possible in hopes that their souls are watching from somewhere and will feel a bit less forgotten.

Are there no names on the back of the photo? As genealogist this saddens me. I assure you somewhere some one is wondering if there are photos of theses people somewhere,

It's going to get worse tracking down photos because so many are digital now and go pouf into the cloud...
sigh.

people need to burn that awful ugly ceramic animal shit immediately. seriously, why does it keep getting produced? that shit is nightmare fuel.

also that first photo of the family isn't SCARY per se, it's just sad. it looks really old and it might have been a treasured photograph and now someone's going to just throw it out? this slice of history? this family moment?? ugh i am so emotional right now, i would buy that frame if i could ;__;

The family photograph being given away is sad, but I thought you were going to say it was eerie because it looks like the father has no legs!

I can relate with the family photo. A friend and I bought a box at the garage sale section at the flea market and it had all these photo albums of this guys entire life. I was kinda seriously sad. we saved them, have one of the dude standing infront of his van with 70's hair that we put up in our shop

That Birthday Girl glass is from that Lolita Love My Wine collection - I remember we used to sell those in a shop I worked in. It's worth about 20 bucks give or take. I always hated them.

If you know about dolls, some of those dolls might be worth a good bit. Quick! Sell 'em on eBay.

I rather like that second painting. Lots of energy. More into the motion (like a Pollack) rather than being representative.
