A terrible treasure trove...

I've been hoarding pictures of crap, much like the vendors in the stores I've visited have been hoarding crap. Lots and lots of crap.

I swear, y'all, I was framed!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
something here just isn't right... now, I'm no racist, but I'm thinking either those blue eyes aren't natural, or this boy's mama's been steppin out.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I don't have a witty commentary for this, I just found it heaps funny.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
there's so much here that's just so WRONG.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
OW, my retina!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
if I remember, this could have possibly been a cover for a cheeseball or something. It's almost awesome, but it didn't quite get there.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I like to imagine that these bookends are zombies and their beards are made of brains.
EDIT: HOLY SHIT, you guys!! I didn't even notice all the sexual stuff before. I kept going back to them in the store because there was something about them but I couldn't pinpoint it. I'm going back tomorrow and I'm buying them!! The call has been made to the store. They're behind the counter waiting for me! WOO and HOO!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was unaware that Christ was a stalker.

Fellatio-lantern. Just in time for Autumn.
(I actually loved this so much I went back to get it and it was GONE).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Get your very own severed head for just over $2.00. What a deal!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
this secondhand paci-feeder is a wonder among lazy parents and obese babies.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
(another photo because I was just that amused)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
No commentary necessary. It's just that awesome.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
and I leave you with shell art.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
really ...REALLY bad shell art.
So you know, that was a night light.

I've still got a lot of Santas to share (they're horrifying, I promise) and some really "interesting" animals, but I'll save them for another day.

Those are some finds if I ever saw one. The "Big Chief" one made the biggest impact. The baby's all "KNOCK OFF THE FUCKING COSPLAY AND FEED ME!"

September 17 2008, 19:19:56 UTC 3 years ago

yeah, and the thing is... if that Dad had the PaciFeeder, he would have been okay and his baby wouldn't be face down on the couch, crying it's little heart out.

Um...those bookends deserve an award for Dedication to Thrift Horror. You didn't see what made up the "brains", or particularly the "necks", right? (Sorry: I was nearly four years old when the Seventies began, and that whole decade permanently scarred my fragile little mind. In particular, I remember seeing lots and lots of this sort of nightmare at garage sales in the very late Seventies, where it'd be snagged up by other pervs.)

I looked at those and to be honest, the only thing I could see wrong was that they both faced the same way, so they couldn't be used as bookends, unless the one on the left had the curved part of the base against the books. Not very OCD-friendly.

And then I read your comment and I looked again.

OH. MY. GOD.

I want the Prince Albert tobacco tin...seriously, lol.

It's still available.

Call around your local tobacco/smoke shops and ask them if they have Prince Albert in a can.

I stared at those book ends for a good 30 seconds before I realized that that is NOT an eye. NOT AN EYE AT ALL.

Those bookends are NSFW.

September 16 2008, 23:56:20 UTC 3 years ago

The scary part is that you almost have to be looking for the pattern. I'll bet $10 that the folks at that thrift shop just thought they were ugly bookends, and they'll scream louder than you did when they realize what they really are.

I feel like Big Chief Heap Money is somebody's inside joke that we're all on the outside of.

It was for Liberty Financial... I still don't get the joke, but the pic is still funny.

I was unaware that Christ was a stalker. < Run, if somebody here doesn't believe in christ she'll kill us all!

And I don't get the whole bottle-straw thing. Does the kid not have arms? lol

[info]drowningmermaid

September 17 2008, 19:25:19 UTC 3 years ago

Well, for those who do believe in Christ, maybe he is a stalker... after all, he is supposed to be all seeing, all knowing, all powerful, all present, and... another one but I can't remember. Never did pay much attention in Sunday School...

In the 4th picture, you've got a Glow Worm and a Ladybug (front), both made in Japan in the 1950s. They're salt & pepper shakers, quite collectible actually. :-)

Oh, and I actually like the sand dollar clock. Sand dollars are awesome!

September 17 2008, 03:01:42 UTC 3 years ago

Re: OH NO NO ONE SEEs IT!!!

Looks like the price tag says $2. A steal! They aren't a matching pair though - it's just two of the same side.

But yeah, at first I was like, "oh, they're like the fruit-head paintings" and then I saw the collars, and was about to say how phallic they look, and then I noticed all the rest and was all WAIT WHAT?

Also, other people noticed - see other comments.

That very first porcalein figurine looks like a direct knock-off of that scene of Cindy-Lou Who with the wreath from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!"

That little kid in the God-hand thing looks freakishly homicidal.
